This week, the 25-man Premier League and Champions League rosters for Newcastle United are expected to be announced.
After defeating Aston Villa 5-1 on the first day of the 2023–24 Premier League season, Newcastle has struggled to start, dropping three of their first four games.
Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento, and Lewis Hall were all added to United’s first team over the summer. This week, Newcastle must submit a 25-man roster to both the Premier League and the Champions League. Premier League clubs are expected to provide a list of 25 senior players who are qualified to play in league matches after the summer and winter transfer windows. Senior players who are not listed on a club’s squad list are unable to participate in Premier League games.
25 players who were born before January 1, 2002 must be included on the 2023–24 Premier League roster. ‘Homegrown’ players must make up at least eight of the 25-man roster. Players born on or before January 1, 2002 are entitled to participate regardless of whether they are on the 25-man roster.
What distinguishes a squad list for the Champions League and the Premier League?
Although all squad lists have 25 players, the rules for each squad list are a little bit different.
17 players may be named in the roster for the Champions League without any limitations. Then, teams are required to select up to an additional eight homegrown players on their squad.
To name a full squad of 25 players, at least four of the eight homegrown players must have received club training. A club’s squad sizes will be adjusted if it is unable to meet the homegrown or club-trained player quotas.
Although players born on or before January 1, 2002 must be listed on the Champions League squad lists in order to be eligible to play, they are not required to be a part of the 25-man squad.
As a result, a second list known as “List B” that comprises players who were eligible to play for the club in question for an uninterrupted period of at least two years or three years including a one-year loan stay must be submitted to UEFA. Players may be named on “List B” in any number, and must submit their names by midnight on the day before a game in order to be eligible to play.
A homegrown player is what?
A player who was born in England or who had been registered with an English FA-affiliated club for three years prior to turning 21 is considered a homegrown player.
What is a player with club training?
A player who spent at least three years playing for a club before turning 21 is considered club-trained.
When must teams for the Champions League and Premier League be submitted?
One week after the transfer market closes, Premier League clubs must submit their 25-man rosters. Clubs have until Friday, September 8, to submit their squads to the Premier League in the case of the summer transfer market, which closed on Friday, September 1.
Clubs from the Champions League must submit their teams for the group stage by Monday, September 4, at midnight.

players who are not on Newcastle United’s roster
Newcastle’s 25-man roster, which will be augmented by a handful of teenagers under the age of 21, is believed to include all of the senior players who are still with the club.
Summer enlistments Despite not being nominated to the team due to their ages, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, 20-year-old Elliot Anderson, and 17-year-old Lewis Miley are all qualified to play. After a strong preseason performance, 19-year-old center back Alex Murphy will also add to the defense’s protection.

Newcastle will probably only be able to include 24 players in their Champions League squad, along with a “List B” of Under-21 players that can be submitted at a later time, due to a dearth of club-trained players above the age of 21.
The four senior players that may not make the team, according to our prediction, are Mark Gillespie, Emil Krafth, Matt Ritchie, and Javier Manquillo.
