Liam Kitching hasn’t yet had a chance to get to know all of his new Coventry City teammates, but he is anxious to meet Callum O’Hare when they all reassemble to get ready for the trip to Hull.

When they last faced off on the field, a little over two years ago at Oakwell, when Barnsley defeated the Sky Blues 1-0 in a Championship match, tempers flared and Viktor Gyokeres missed his chance to tie the score from the penalty spot.

A photograph shot that day precisely captured the altercation, showing an obviously irate O’Hare grabbing Kitching’s shirt with two clenched fists and glaring at him aggressively. The center-back, who joined City on deadline day for £4.5 million, is pictured gripping O’Hare and appears more amicable than aggressive.

Kitching laughed when asked if he remembered the incident, responding, “Yeah, it was a couple of years ago and I remember it, but I haven’t met him yet. I tried to remember what happened after seeing it on Twitter earlier, but I can’t.

O’Hare was one of the forwards in the division who received the most fouls while he was healthy, therefore Kitching probably took him out. “He’s a tricky little player and everyone tries to hack him down because it’s the only way you can stop him, so that’s probably why he was angry,” he said. “When we do ultimately meet, it’ll be hilarious, but I’m confident he’ll be alright. It will be enjoyable to meet him and joke around with him.
