Nuno Tavares was acquired by Nottingham Forest from Arsenal during the summer transfer window, and the deal was finalized on the day of the deadline. There was, however, a moment when it appeared as though the player had other plans.

The Portuguese under-21 defender reportedly did have some initial doubts. He wanted to take his time moving to Forest, which is why it took so long for the contract to be finalized in the summer.

On the day of the transfer deadline, Tavares was ultimately introduced at 10 a.m. The Gunners player has been loaned to the Reds for the current campaign, but should he perform well, the agreement might become permanent.

Tavares, who was on loan from Forest, joined Arsenal in 2021. With just 28 appearances for the club, the 23-year-old’s time at the Emirates Stadium hasn’t quite gone as planned.

He was a standout when on loan at Marseille last year, as they finished third in Ligue 1. In 39 appearances for France, he scored six goals while playing as a left wingback.

Tavares was replaced by Renan Lodi by the Ligue 1 team. After spending the previous season on loan at the City Ground, the 25-year-old signed with the team.

Forest inscription Tavares was hesitant to move.

The defender, who is 23 years old, appears to be a skilled athlete. He performed admirably when representing Portugal at the European Under-21 Championships in the summer.

He will have senior international football as his goal. Tavares must first remove Ola Aina from the Forest team before rejoining them during the international break.

Tavares’ performance in his lone prior appearance featuring Forest wasn’t very excellent. As Forest defeated Arsenal in the FA Cup in 2022, he was replaced after 30 minutes.

However, that alone should not be used to evaluate him. He is a talented young man, and Steve Cooper will undoubtedly enjoy the opportunity to bring out the best in him.
