
According to sources that spoke to Football Insider, Serge Aurier and Nottingham Forest are thinking about starting contract negotiations at the City Ground.
Given that Aurier’s current contract is slated to expire in June 2024, it is anticipated that conversations will begin before the new year.
The 30-year-old right-back, who only signed his last contract in June, could be rewarded for his outstanding early-season performance.
Despite competition from Ola Aina and World Cup champion Gonzalo Montiel for the right-back position.
When Aurier, an ex-Tottenham defender, returned to English football last summer (2022), Nottingham Forest was taken aback by his signing.
The Ivory Coast international has nonetheless emerged as an important player for Steve Cooper’s team, who last season averted relegation to the Championship.
This season, Aurier has started four out of a possible five games, and he has already made two assists.
Last season, he made 28 appearances for Forest in all leagues, and on one occasion, he captained Steve Cooper’s team.
After being let go by Tottenham in August 2021, Aurier surpassed the milestone of 100 Premier League games in the previous season.
The young Lens product is capable of playing at right-back, center-back, and left-back. Cooper has also used the capable wing-back throughout his tenure at the City Ground.
On Friday, September 8th, Joe Worrall signed a contract with Forest that runs until June 2026 to become the newest player to make a commitment to the team.
The Midlands-based team is eighth in the standings after winning two of its first four Premier League games.
