Wout Faes, a defender for Leicester City, has acknowledged having talks about leaving this summer but eventually deciding against it.

The center-back has been chatting with Humo about his job at Leicester and their season-long relegation from the Championship.

After selling Wesley Fofana to Chelsea late in the summer of last year, the defender joined the Foxes, and manager Brendan Rodgers threw him right in at the deep end.

He had a bit of a rough beginning to life at the club, but he finally turned things around and became one of Leicester’s better players in a catastrophic season.

But there was also no purpose in me selecting a team where I would be a substitute. My standing with the national squad would have been harmed by that.

Now, Faes and his colleagues are concentrating on getting back into the Premier League at the first opportunity.

They’ve had a great start under Enzo Maresca, winning four of their first five games and accruing 12 points out of a possible fifteen, so they are eager to complete that mission.

Just one point separates them from equal second place in the Championship right now.
