Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, asserted that midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is eager to rejoin the team.
Yesterday, the team received a significant injury boost when Bentancur was spotted warming up before practice.
Since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Leicester City in February, the Uruguayan international has been out from competition.
Before his terrible accident, he was arguably one of Tottenham’s greatest players from the previous season, if not the best.
The midfielder has been putting in a lot of effort in the background to heal from the wound.
He made a progress in his recovery by warming up with the Tottenham players on Thursday before the training session.
Ange Postecoglou was also questioned over the significance of the player participating in a warm-up session with the guys.
He said the following during his pre-game press conference earlier today (via Football London):
“It is. He barged into my room a couple of weeks ago and demanded to join the squad.
“Rehab is a difficult thing, ask any player. You are not required to complete the work.
It’s the aspect of it when you’re alone and not part of the group. He was excited yesterday just from being involved and doing the warm-ups.
When we took him out after the warm-up, he appeared to be fairly defeated. It’s great. He still has a lot of work to do, it’s fair to say.
But it’s nice to have him involved, and I suppose it just gives him a little more motivation. It’s wonderful to see.
TBH DeclaresAlthough he won’t be here until the beginning of November, his homecoming would provide us a huge lift.
Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are currently Ange’s go-to pair, and Sarr has performed admirably thus far.
Bentancur, Bissouma, and James Maddison, though, have the potential to develop into one of the league’s top midfields.
