West Ham manager David Moyes would have been pleased with his team’s performance up until halftime of their game against Man City, but it all fell apart in a lopsided second half.

Pep Guardiola’s swashbucklers once again demonstrated their mettle and why they will be the side to defeat in 2023–24. Less than a minute after the game resumed at the London Stadium, Jeremy Doku’s outstanding individual performance brought City back on equal footing. From that moment on, things seemed bleak for the Hammers.

The game was secured by Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland, and it was a move involving the Norwegian that incensed Tony Gale, a former West Ham player who was co-commentating on the game.

Prior to crossing to Haaland, Kyle Walker gave Kurt Zouma a clean set of heels, but Haaland could only connect with Alphonse Areola on his shot.

However, Gale was undoubtedly displeased with the ease with which the England international passed Zouma.

He remarked, “He looked like he was running through quicksand,” through Hammers News.

“His sprinting style didn’t seem appropriate. He’s way too laid back, and Walker got there first.

Gale was correct in his assessment of that particular pattern of play, but that shouldn’t take away from Zouma’s and his teammates’ reasonable efforts.

On another day, the Hammers might have at least earned a point from the game, but City have already reached the point where they can win any game, so they’ll just keep on pursuing their goals until they succeed.
