Following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League, the Nigerian international was constantly linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium, with both Liverpool and Nottingham Forest apparently keen to recruit him. After the transfer season closed, rumors persisted, and Fenerbahce was reportedly preparing a bid last week. The Turkish transfer window was still open until last Friday.
Ndidi ultimately stayed in the East Midlands and was a key player in the 4-1 victory over Southampton on Friday night. He also scored his first league goal of the year, helping Leicester briefly take the top spot in the standings.
The fact that his contract is slated to expire at the end of the current campaign has increased rumors that, should they be unable to reach an extension, the Foxes would try to sell him off in January. After missing out on Fulham’s Joao Palhinha in the final hours of the transfer window, Bayern reportedly saw the 26-year-old as a player capable of filling their midfield role.
The Bavarians created another shortlist of midfielders after the Portuguese international extended his contract at Craven Cottage. Ndidi reportedly appears on this list alongside Scott McTominay of Manchester United, Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid, and Ibrahim Sangare of Nottingham Forest.
Ndidi will likely be the least expensive choice out of the four names suggested, though a club the size of Bayern is unlikely to have a problem with that.

Leicester has had a strong start to the season and will be hoping that it continues. If it does, it may give Ndidi the chance to stay at the club. He is a player who will likely hold onto his desire to compete at the highest level and is unlikely to accept another season in the Championship. If Bayern’s desire materializes, the allure of Champions League football and the chance to win prestigious awards might be too great to pass up.
In January, the Premier League is also likely to show further interest, and it will be intriguing to see if fierce rivals Nottingham Forest make another approach.
