Before the January transfer window opens, Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly keeping a close eye on Celtic forward Daizen Maeda.

Tottenham decided to recruit the versatile Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day rather than replacing Harry Kane with a pure center-forward in the summer.

Yesterday, Richarlison came through with a goal and an assist off the bench to help his team defeat Sheffield United, while captain Son Heung-min scored three goals in the 5-2 victory over Burnley while manning the center of the field.

Ange Postecoglou is reportedly trying to bolster his options up front in January and is contemplating the prospect of raiding his former club for Daizen Maeda, according to TEAMtalk.

The Japanese international has made 76 appearances for the Scottish club, contributing 32 goals (19 goals and 13 assists) in that time.

But according to the source, Postecoglou is drawn to the 25-year-old’s unrelenting drive and determination to push, as well as his adaptability.

The article claims that if Tottenham came calling in January, Celtic would seek to secure a fee of £25 million or move for Maeda.

Maeda undoubtedly embodies the type of striker that Postecoglou like, but his performance at the club and international levels has been fairly disappointing, and there is no indication from these statistics that the forward is ready to compete at the Premier League level.
