Over the course of his 12-year Ibrox career, he won two league championships, four Scottish cups, and three league cups.
Between 1960 and 1972, the central defense played more than 500 times for Rangers during his whole professional career in Scotland.
MacKinnon played for Scotland on 28 occasions and was also honored by the Rangers Hall of Fame.
“Everyone associated with Rangers Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player, Ronnie MacKinnon, at the age of 83,” said an official club statement.
“Hall of Famer MacKinnon won two league championships, four Scottish Cups, and three League Cups. He also received 28 Scotland caps.
The club expresses its condolences to his spouse Elizabeth and his entire family.
“The family asks for privacy during this difficult time. In due course, the club will pay Mr. MacKinnon more tribute.
