Tuesday night’s 2-0 triumph over the Scottish champions in their Champions League debut has drawn attention to the location of Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart for Feyenoord’s first goal.

Micah Richards and Thierry Henry, two pundits on CBS, got into a fight about the experienced goalie’s part in Calvin Stengs’ goal from a long-range free kick shortly before halftime at De Kuip.

Others accused striker Kyogo Furuhashi for breaking away from the defensive wall, while Hart was unable to stop the ball despite appearing to leave a large gap between himself and the left-hand post. Richards, a former Premier League great, and ex-Arsenal legend Henry argued over who was to blame for the goal as a result.

Given the situation, Henry believed Hart could have performed better, and he charged Richards with staunchly supporting the 36-year-old player out of friendship for having gone through Manchester City’s youth system together.

If you could claim that was going to sting Celtic, it did, Henry remarked. Richards answered, “He obviously was not thrilled with the wall. You should not ever concede a goal like that, goalie. It was visible. He would not have had time to react if the wall had been at the proper place.

Henry responded, “I know, that is why he put the wall,” in response. “Joe Hart, you see him after,” Richards continued. They shifted. That is not the keeper’s fault, you know. It took him a while to notice it. It can

Henry said, “I think he can do better,” as they continued their discussion. “Look at the wall, he is not happy with the wall,” Richards retorted. That is your pal, Henry then jokingly remarked. and Richards said, chuckling, “Maybe.”

Martin O’Neill, a legendary former coach of the Hoops, placed the blame at Kyogo’s feet, saying the Japanese talisman should not have even been close to the wall in the first place.
