Heart and Hand have gushed over Jack Butland’s contribution to Rangers’ important 1-0 Europa League victory over Real Betis on Thursday.
Abdallah Sima’s 67th-minute goal amid a frenzied scramble gave Rangers a razor-thin but excellent victory over Spanish La Liga team Real Betis as they made their Europa League debut.
Butland’s outstanding saves throughout the game, when Betis threatened to dampen the raucous atmosphere at Ibrox, are to be credited by the Gers and Michael Beale.
Heart and Hand podcast could not contain their adoration for the former Manchester United and Crystal Palace goalie when they took to Twitter on September 22.
“Being a keeper for a club like ours isn’t just about ability, you have to have a big commanding presence to be our No. 1,” they wrote on Twitter. This man is talented.
Beale has been criticized heavily for what was viewed as a fairly subpar start to the season, and rightfully so.
The team’s performance at Ibrox on Thursday night will go a long way toward winning fans over despite the awful football and unsatisfactory results thus far.
Even at this early stage of the season, the club appeared to be at a turning point since they were resolute on defense, looked threatening moving forward, and were at ease in possession.
Butland’s outstanding and confident performance in goal at Ibrox is unquestionably to blame for the outcome.
Due to his history of injuries and lack of top-level playing experience, there wasn’t as much hope and excitement when Beale introduced him to the team over the summer.
Butland has dispelled all those fears thus far this season, proving to be Rangers’ most reliable and effective performance and giving Beale and his club exactly what they need to replace legendary goalkeeper Allan.
