Steve Cooper, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, has encouraged his squad to defy the odds this weekend at the Etihad Stadium.
Prior to Saturday’s trip to the Etihad Stadium, Nottingham Forest coach Steve Cooper thinks his team must strike the perfect mix between respecting Manchester City’s abilities and believing in themselves.
Due to City’s participation in the UEFA Champions League this week, the Reds have had more time to prepare for their matchup with the Premier League Champions. Nottingham’s previous game was a 1-1 draw with Burnley on Monday.
Although Nottingham’s talismanic attacker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has been involved in at least one goal in each of his past ten games, the forty-three-year-old’s team look to mount a comeback after City won the reverse matchup last season.
“You must go there with ambition, confidence, and a mindset to perform at your highest level. There must be harmony. Cooper told the club’s official website, “You have to respect how excellent they are, but you also have to keep believing in yourself.
The League Champions are now atop the league standings and are still unbeaten, so the manager from Pontypridd understood how difficult it may be to play against them.
“All I’m doing is acknowledging the caliber of Manchester City and what they’ve accomplished, the trophies they won last season, and Pep Guardiola’s status as someone who inspires me without a doubt, but I also go there believing in my team,” the player said.
