according to West Ham manager David Moyes, will soon need to be dubbed “The Postman” if things continue this way James Ward-Prowse.
Since joining West Ham for £30 million, Ward-Prowse has contributed a goal or an assist in every game: two against Chelsea, one against Brighton, one against Luton, one against Manchester City, and two against Backa Topola in Thursday’s Europa League victory.
Sunday’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Anfield is the next, and Moyes says he is happy with Ward-Prowse’s debut. For this reason, the Scot pursued the England international for years before finally securing him after Southampton was down to the Championship.
West Ham, in Moyes’ opinion, belongs at the top of the set-piece standings. They came in first place in 2020–21, fifth in 2021–22, and eleventh in 2022–23. Thanks to Ward-Prowse’s deliveries, Moyes believes his team is regaining their former position as the Premier League’s experts in corners.
After West Ham’s victory in the European competition last week, Moyes observed, “We could have scored four or five goals from corners.” We have a solid set-piece defense, perhaps without the name “specialist,” but I believe Ward-Prowse is a specialist now. He is currently helping us and our outcomes.
Against Backa Topola, Mohammed Kudus and Tomas Soucek scored goals off of two corners from Ward-Prowse. “We need more free kicks and corners,” someone yelled. Moyes kept going.
He has significantly impacted each game. It’s been a fantastic beginning. Overall, he is a team player. He works hard and is in excellent shape. He works multiple jobs. Beginning to form a potential conversational group of players
When asked what West Ham should do on Sunday, Moyes responded, “Not fear it. Go ahead and engage Liverpool as much as you can in combat.
