Jamie Vardy’s continued affiliation with Leicester City, according to former manager Nigel Pearson, is a “very important factor” for the team.

At the King Power Stadium on Saturday, Vardy scored the game-winning goal against Pearson’s Bristol City, and Pearson made his first appearance at Filbert Way in the role of the opposing manager.

Vardy’s King Power career was launched by Pearson 11 years ago when he signed the striker for £1 million from Fleetwood Town in 2012. Pearson thinks Vardy’s winning attitude in the latter part of his career should be acknowledged.

Whatever people may think of Jamie, Pearson remarked following the game, “We should recognise the winning attitude he has at this stage of his career.

“Players that bring traits and standards like that are ones you need to develop. The fact that Jamie Vardy is still at Leicester will therefore be crucial.

In agreement with Pearson, current City manager Enzo Maresca recently referred to Vardy as the “most important player we have” in the team’s push for promotion back to the Premier League. After the most recent victory over Southampton, Maresca stated, “I have always said the same about Jamie.

He is not a player I came across. His record stands on its own. He is a very important player. The most significant player we have. However, Kelechi (Iheanacho) and (Patson) Daka are also present, so we must control the players up front.
