As the current champions of the Europa Conference League and a significant power in the Premier League, West Ham is in a fantastic situation right now.
The aim is that the Hammers will continue to advance in the months and years to come as a club that can now fend off competition from top teams for players like Mohammed Kudus.
While the high-profile additions of Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, and Kudus have all strengthened West Ham’s lineup, it’s critical that the team continue to develop players from the academy.
And that shouldn’t be a problem because the U21 side has a wealth of gems just waiting to be discovered.
One example is offensive midfielder George Earthy, 18, who signed a new contract on Saturday [23 September] to celebrate scoring in back-to-back games.
Earthy and Callum Marshall both scored in the 3-3 tie against Southampton on Friday [22 September] to bring their season total to seven goals in five Premier League 2 contests.
Both young players are undoubtedly already on David Moyes’ radar for first-team selection, and as the season progresses, it’s possible they might make appearances on the bench or on the field in cup competitions.
It’s fair to assume that the Hammers of the future are doing a commendable job considering they had won six straight games before the tie with Southampton.
Even while Earthy and Marshall aren’t exactly household names just yet, before the 2023–24 season is done, that could very well change.
Declan Rice may not be playing anymore, but other native athletes are eager to leave their imprint at the London Stadium.
