WHAT OCCURED?
The Welsh team, which has Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney from Hollywood making decisions at the board level, suffered a humiliating defeat in their most recent League Two match. Before the break, they were three goals down and had no chance of getting back into the game at Edgeley Park.
THE GRANDER IMAGE
Wrexham has given up five goals in three fourth-tier games this season, and Young admits that they have a lot of improvement to do as a team. He admitted to The Athletic that “today was not a good work day. But I am positive that we will make things right, beginning on Monday, and I support everyone in that dressing room in this. Since receiving a promotion, the bar has been raised, and we have had to step up our performance. Up until Stockport, we were getting used to the step up and finding our footing gradually. This has been a setback and a wake-up call in some ways.
WHO SAID WHAT
Following their most recent humiliation, Wrexham remain seventh in the standings and inside the play-off spots, and Phil Parkinson is another who has vowed to make things right. The Dragons manager stated, “With recent results, we had put ourselves in a solid position. However, that was the worst first half I can recall. We must now examine the causes of why Stockport was not the intended victim. Next week, we’ll take care of that and make things right.
WHAT ARRIVES SECOND?
Wrexham will host Crewe, the team directly above them in the table, at SToK Racecourse on Saturday in the hopes that a spark can be rediscovered and that star striker Paul Mullin can score his first goal of the year. Wrexham will have a week to lick their wounds and work on plugging defensive leaks.
