Daniel Farke, the manager of Leeds United, is currently faced with a serious quandary regarding his best midfield pairing.

Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu have been the preferred starting duo for the bulk of the season; they have started each game in every competition together up until the weekend.

In Saturday’s 3-0 victory against Watford, Glen Kamara made his full Leeds debut because Gray had appeared a touch fatigued against Hull City.

Kamara made the last-minute transfer from Rangers to Elland Road last month, and he was given quick cameos against Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall.

At the weekend, Farke gave him his first opportunity to truly impress, and there is little question that he seized it.

Kamara’s weekend victory for Leeds was underappreciated.
With this being Kamara’s first start since June at either the club or international level, he may have been excused for appearing a touch rusty.

However, he made no indications of it as he joined Farke’s team right away and made a significant contribution to what was undoubtedly Leeds’ best performance of the season.

The 27-year-old was successful in 46 of his 50 passes, and his organization in the air helped Leeds’ attacks continue for nearly the full 90 minutes.

In what was a glaringly underappreciated debut, amidst standout performances from the likes of Georginio Rutter and Ampadu, he also completed both of his attempted long balls, dropping the ball just six times in total.

Although his ability to dribble the ball wasn’t fully on display on Saturday, Kamara will definitely gain confidence as he plays more. Nevertheless, this is a debut he can be proud of.
