After being unexpectedly relegated last season, the Foxes saw a lot of players come and depart during the summer transfer window.

Since he had been a standout performer in the Premier League for some time, midfielder Wilfried Ndidi was one player who was probably expected to go but didn’t.

The Nigerian international was linked to a number of clubs, with Premier League club Nottingham Forest rumored to have even finalized terms with the player before the window closed, but a move never materialized.

The 26-year-old has subsequently admitted that he was aware he would never leave the King Power Stadium because, as soon as Enzo Maresca arrived, he made it plain what he wanted and, according to the player, his ideas were something he could use.

While it is encouraging that the player has remained with the team past the summer transfer window, Leicester must make a choice because Ndidi’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign. They must decide whether to sell the player or keep him.

Why should Leicester City sell Wilfried Ndidi?

Leicester now has a lot of options in the midfield because to the improvements made over the summer.

Under Maresca, Harry Winks and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall play frequently and have proven themselves more than capable of performing at this level and in the Premier League.

They also have players like Hamza Choudhury and Cesare Casadei, who have been in and out of the team but have demonstrated their ability to perform well for Maresca.

The fact that Ndidi’s contract is about to expire and that he might not be prepared to sign a new one depends on how the club is doing is another noteworthy reason why the club should possibly contemplate moving him in January.

Now, Leicester might take a chance and determine what to do after the current campaign, and it’s possible that the organization will let him depart for free nevertheless.

Ndidi will probably not want to spend another season in the second division if Leicester doesn’t get promoted back to the Premier League this year because the club can’t afford to pay players on large salaries.

There are so a few factors Leicester should take into account before selling the midfielder.

Why should Wilfried Ndidi remain with Leicester City?

Ndidi is perhaps one of the more seasoned players in the Leicester City locker room.

The midfielder joined the team in 2017, and while being still rather young, he has made numerous appearances for them. When things go tough during the season, he can be a strong presence in the locker room.

He is the kind of athlete that some of these more youthful Leicester players can look up to and learn from, thus for Maresca, he is a trustworthy and dependable player.

Additionally, given his performances in the Premier League, it is safe to argue that Leicester would benefit more from having a player like Ndidi in their lineup if they were to be promoted again.

His abilities both on and off the ball make him a notable player in this league, however you could also argue that remaining with them in the Championship is equally vital.

It is unlikely that Leicester would receive a high price for the midfielder even if they were to sell him.
