Celtic will have been wishing they were in the Viaplay Cup semi-final in November but they have been handed a potential Premiership boost.

The SPFL have confirmed that games involving Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen have been postponed on the weekend of November 4 and 5 and that could give Celtic the opportunity to put more points on the board and extend their lead at the top of the Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers men lost to Kilmarnock in the second round of the tournament and it was their first domestic cup loss under the Irishman over his two spells. But with Ross County losing to Aberdeen in the quarter final, it means there’s no risk to Celtic’s game against them in Dingwall on November 4 and they will travel to the Highland with the opportunity to get points on the board.

Rangers and others will have a game in hand but with Celtic already four clear, the chance to go seven clear could be a huge psychological advantage in the Premiership title race.

Celtic will face Ross County on November 4 and the game will be shown on Sky Sports as the live TV game that weekend while the two semi-finals will take place at Hampden.
