In recent months, Sunderland has been able to reach new contract agreements with a number of prominent players; however, talks are still ongoing with a few other team members.
After becoming the team’s starting goalkeeper, Anthony Patterson recently signed a long-term contract with Wearside.
However, some players are entering the final year of their existing contracts, necessitating decisions on their careers over the following 12 months.
The senior Sunderland players, including those on loan, are listed below, along with the dates of their contract expirations:
1. Patrick Roberts – 2024 summer
Southampton made a late offer for the winger during the summer transfer window, but Sunderland rejected it. With only one year left on his deal, the 26-year-old is sure to draw further attention in January.
2. Alex Pritchard – 2024 summer
With with one year left on his contract, the 30-year-old was destined to depart Wearside this summer. Pritchard, however, is still a Sunderland player and might have a significant role this year.
3. Ellis Taylor – 2024 Summer
The winger returns to Wearside this year after a trying loan stint with Hartlepool during the first half of the 2022–23 campaign. Taylor, 20, signed a three-year contract with the Stadium of Light in 2021. He has one year left on his current agreement.
4. Mason Burstow — Summer 2024 (on loan from Chelsea) On the final day of the transfer window, Sunderland finalized the acquisition of Chelsea’s 20-year-old forward Burstow on a one-season loan.
