In what can only be referred to as one of the best all-around performances of Carlos Corberan’s reign – and in general, away from home, for years – West Bromwich Albion destroyed Preston North End’s spotless home record and inflicted a particularly heavy first season defeat on the Lilywhites on Saturday at soggy Deepdale.

Prior to Matt Phillips and Kyle Bartley adding more goals in the second half, Darnell Furlong and Alex Mowatt scored goals in the first half. The three points, the clean sheet, and the goals were all richly deserved.

The 2000 supporters behind the goal were olé-ing, pleading with a team whose overall confidence was clearly on the rise to score more goals. A great time was had by the fans, and the Championship received a serious message. Here is what the Preston fans had to say about Albion’s display.

Cragtek: Based on this information, WBA ought to be towards the top by the end of the campaign. Whatever you want to say, Corberan has set them up against us quite well.

Thracia: WBA merit the 4 in full.

Shabbagaz: a course, West Brom deserves credit; they were excellent and deserving a higher placement.

Lee Cartwright: It was a bad day at the office playing a Baggies team right away. There are some excellent players on that team, and if they can gel like they did today, they will be a challenge.

They saw a wide defensive opening that we had and brilliantly exploited it. We did nothing to even attempt to stop them from using our vulnerability. The only move we made was to throw it towards their enormous centers. awful beyond belief. better group. better athletes. improved management group. Perhaps most crucially, a better budget.

nigelscamelcoat: In my opinion, West Brom shown premier league class by absolutely stifling us each time we gained possession of the ball. did an excellent job for us in that regard. Even though at least two of their goals today were the result of defensive mistakes, their on-the-ball performance was not the greatest we’ve seen this year.

Doyler: West Brom played with style. reminded me of the game they played there last year. just from the first whistle on, totally dominated. Their boss is a master strategist.

Tugg Speedman: West Brom’s manager deserves credit for making 5 adjustments that were successful for him. I thought they were outstanding and completely earned the victory. That being said, we were terrible from the beginning to the end today, so they had nothing to beat.

Patrick Poggi: I will acknowledge WBA for a superb performance at Deepdale today. They really dominated the North End team and kept them from getting a sniff for significant stretches of time. The guys for North End were bouncing off their enormous opponents while Swift and his right winger were impenetrable. North End suffered a severe loss.
