John McGinn emphasized how crucial West Ham’s contribution to Aston Villa’s triumph over Brighton during their decisive victory over the Seagulls.
The Hammers have been playing well themselves this season, and our August 3-1 victory away at Brighton served as the catalyst for our strong 2023–24 start.
On that particular day, the Seagulls were overwhelming favorites, but David Moyes put his great game plan into action and totally outplayed the south coast team.

After the game, John McGinn spoke with the media and described what led Villa to line up against the Seagulls the way they did on Saturday.
“We saw West Ham accomplish it.”
Despite having 62% of the ball against Aston Villa, Brighton was soundly defeated by five goals in the end.
They enjoyed an amazing 78% of the possession against us, but they lost 3-1.
With three straight victories, Villa is now the most successful team in the Premier League.
On the other side, it appears that Brighton has been exposed. Given our ongoing conflicts with them, how ironic that the Hammers would end up being the ones who design their eventual doom.
