Wales manager Rob Page said that Wrexham striker Paul Mullin “fits the bill” as an option for his side going forward. The Cymru boss was speaking at a press conference at The Racecourse ahead of this month’s international matches.
Wales will face Gibraltar at the Racecourse in a friendly on October 11 before taking on Croatia four days later at the Cardiff City Stadium. Page revealed during the press conference that Mullin will be on the standby list for his squad and could yet make his international bow this month.
“If he’s playing football and scoring goals then he’s in in the equation,” said Page. “We said when he was in non league for him to get promotion – he’s now playing in League Two and scoring goals and there’s other Welsh players scoring goals at that level so they’re all being considered.
“For this particular camp, with the injuries we’ve had, as a number nine – I went to watch him against Sheffield United and I can tell you as a defender I wouldn’t want to play against Paul Mullin. I spoke with Jack Lester (Wales coach) who is at Sheffield United and he spoke very highly of him after those games.”
