After defender Niall Huggins was pulled off of their Championship game against Middlesbrough in the first half, Sunderland has developed another injury problem.
After joining the Black Cats from Leeds in the summer of 2021, the 22-year-old has experienced ongoing injury setbacks, but he has started six straight league games.
Huggins also scored his first goal as a senior for Sunderland in the 2-0 victory over Watford on Wednesday. However, he was substituted against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light in the 30th minute.
Huggins was withdrawn, and Jenson Seelt was substituted in his stead. Huggins then made his way along the side of the field.
After the game, Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray will give an update on Huggins.
