As a vital decision about Frank Lampard has been made, Rangers chief executive James Bisgrove is already moving forward with their search for Michael Beale’s replacement at Ibrox.
After Beale was fired on Sunday (1 October) as a result of the 3-1 loss against Aberdeen on the previous Saturday (30 September), Steven Davis has taken over at Ibrox on an interim basis.
With so many candidates vying for Beale’s managerial job at Ibrox, the competition has definitely heated up in recent days.
Pascal Jansen of AZ Alkmaar, Kevin Muscat of Yokohama F. Marinos, Ryan Lowe of Preston, Frank Lampard, Philippe Clement, and Derek McInnes of Kilmarnock are among the managers.
The former Chelsea and Everton manager is no longer in the running to become the Rangers manager at Ibrox, according to a new report from Sky Sports News on Friday evening (6 October).
The former manager of Derby County, Everton, and Chelsea was seen as one of the front-runners to succeed Michael Beale at Ibrox.
Lampard is no longer being evaluated, according to an update given live on air on Friday evening (6 October) by Adam Leventhal and Jasper Taylor.
As they complete their shortlist for a new manager, “Rangers expect to hold the final round of interviews next week,” they stated.
Frank Lampard won’t be involved, despite early discussions.
“Numerous names have been connected. However, as far as we know, Frank Lampard is not a contender.
Lampard, Clement, Jansen, and Muscat were the four candidates on the Gers’ shortlist to follow Beale, if prior rumors are to be believed.
Lampard is no longer a contender, thus there are just three left to select from.
Jansen, though, appears to be an improbable candidate given his position at AZ and their rapid ascent in the Dutch Eredivisie. He will undoubtedly not want to leave them at this time, which could leave only Muscat and Clement as candidates.
Perhaps it is not a coincidence that news of Lampard’s withdrawal from consideration broke on the same day that Clement arrived in Glasgow for negotiations [Voetbal Nieuws].
The Rangers faithful will be hoping that a talented, long-lasting coach with a knack for winning football games through an attractive brand of football is the one who walks through the doors. It appears as though the Ibrox bosses have already identified the kind of candidate and the kind of playing style they want at the club, which is critical in any new managerial process.
Whatever the case, a significant change has occurred, and it appears that a decision will be made before the end of the international break.
