Despite having no plans to talk about David Moyes’ contract, West Ham is not actively considering replacement candidates, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Hammers manager, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign, is now in charge of the team’s best start since the 2015–16 campaign and has already won a European trophy.

Although Romano claims he is not currently aware of anyone being lined up to replace him, West Ham says they plan to initiate negotiations to renew his contract closer to the time.

In his Daily Briefing on Substack on October 7, he stated, “I’m absolutely not aware of any name being lined up to replace David Moyes despite the fact that there have been no contract negotiations with West Ham, and I also think it wouldn’t be normal to have someone lined up nine months before.”

The Hammers are simply proceeding gradually, month after month. They take their time and are composed.

Although the club is evolving, Moyes’ performance thus far has been excellent. Although Tim Steidten, the new director, is doing a fantastic job, getting ready for the future will take some time.

Sensible

Although it may appear brutal, it appears to us that the club is handling this extremely sensibly and with respect.

We all know that Moyes and Tim Steidten had disagreements about the club’s direction and transfer targets in the summer, so that needs to be addressed moving forward.

However, before Moyes won the Europa Conference League at the end of the last campaign, there were significant doubts about his future, and it would be folly to disregard those just because of a strong start this time around.

There needs to be dialogue, and while Moyes might undoubtedly remain on and continue to succeed in this position, he might also want a say in the matter and to try something different.

As long as everyone is on the same page, there is no reason for things to go south. The club is leaving their options open without being rude about it.
