Dr. Daniel Plumley, a specialist in football finance, is a welcome addition to our exclusive writer lineup. He will provide his thoughts on the most important topics at Everton each week.

Dan Plumley has stated that he does not anticipate Everton entering administration, warning that there is a risk of overreaction if the phrase is used in relation to a particular team.

The Liverpool Echo claimed that, despite what was implied at Goodison Park, there are no problems with HMRC and that additional warning signs are lacking for that to occur.

The financial expert acknowledged that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the finances are more likely a Premier League concern than an administrative one.

He exclusively told Goodison News, “There is a risk that there may be an overreaction when that term gets used.

“Actually, the reality of it is probably far from reality; you frequently see these things, and HMRC tends to be involved more from the standpoint of unpaid tax than anything else.

“Given the nature of the club—a Premier League club—yes, we are aware that the ownership structure presents financial issues, but we haven’t seen any indication that HMRC may be alarmed or administration conversations on that level.

“I just don’t see it. I believe it’s unwise to look at that and overreact at this moment.

“Unless there is something we are not seeing, I just don’t see it because obviously, either way, you have an owner who has been supporting the football team financially for the past few years and who has been absorbing those losses,” the author says.

“I believe the issue is more related to the Premier League and FFP than it is to the administration. as we speak at the moment.
