Enzo Maresca discusses emulating a training technique utilized by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City in the most recent Leicester City news.

Enzo Maresca, manager of Leicester City, is utilizing a tried-and-true Pep Guardiola tactic to succeed in the Championship.

Maresca and his team have already faced opponents who sat back against City in an effort to withstand the pressure and make themselves difficult to beat. Although Leicester are more than capable of handling it, facing any kind of competition may be challenging.

Maresca stated he recruits the club’s young players to help out when discussing how Leicester combats it in practice during his press conference last week. It is now being copied at Seagrave because it worked for Guardiola and Manchester City.

“Almost every time, the day before the game, we use the under-21s,” Maresca stated. And the day after we play a team, we try to use them the same manner.

“Even against the under-21s, when they take a backseat, we have trouble coming up with the perfect answer. However, this is not because we are terrible; rather, it is difficult to locate them all when they are present.

“We have more room when they press harder. However, we still have trouble, even when we deploy the second team frequently. It’s typical.

Pep Guardiola employed it at Manchester City, and it appears to be working for Leicester this season so far with just three points lost in the league. In 2020, Danny Walker, the first team coach, one of Maresca’s current coworkers, talked about the workout under Guardiola.

When they were getting ready to play Real Madrid in the Champions League, Walker coached their second squad in a practice match against Guardiola’s first team. That game was ultimately won by City 2-1.

“We were Real Madrid so we did a great job!” Three years ago, according to Walker. Putting aside teaching our lads, I like to stand next to the field and watch Pep work. He is the best coach in the world, so I like to watch how he communicates with the players and how he works. The way he communicates his ideas and how they are accepted since the players on the first team are among the greatest in the world.
