Rasmus Kristensen, a defender for Roma, has explained why Jose Mourinho was a major factor in his decision to leave Leeds United on loan over the summer.

The full-back gushed about his current employer, calling him one of the best coaches in history who has accomplished everything, so he leaped at the chance to work for him in Rome and pick his brains.

According to the current Roma strategy, Kristensen will return to Leeds at the end of his loan period, as Sport.TV2 reported, but he is enjoying the difficult start he’s had.

He [Mourinho] is a terrific coach,” Kristensen asserted in an interview with the Danish news site Sport.TV2 [11 October]. That is one of the reasons I decided to visit Rome.

“He is one of the best coaches in history and has achieved every possible victory. He also exudes that atmosphere.

“To me, he is the best coach there is. I naturally wanted to try and collaborate with him. It has been quite interesting and instructive thus far.

There are numerous novelties. It is obvious that this is a new locker room in a new nation with a new way of viewing football.

“Roma is a very large club, so you can sense the interest in the players in Italy. But the club has a cool atmosphere. It has, in my opinion, been interesting, instructive, and difficult.

Not the ideal conclusion he had envisioned

The defender’s career has had a rocky beginning in Italy. He was not included in Mourinho’s Europa League roster, and rumours indicate that the former Chelsea manager was unimpressed with the Dane.

With the challenge of raising his level and learning from his new boss, which he professes to be loving, he will be trying to turn his luck around. However, an improvement in form will be required.

He will reportedly return to Elland Road after his loan agreement because Roma has already decided they won’t want to keep him past the initial 12-month period.

He will be evaluated by Leeds upon his return to Yorkshire at the end of the season, and the club will decide if he gets back into the team. He and many of his former teammates left the club after Leeds was relegated.
