George Morgan, a member of the Everton academy, is said to be one of the team’s most talented young players.
The Guardian has named the ‘strong’ adolescent as Everton’s most promising player born between September 2006 and August 2007.
Morgan was chosen for The Guardian’s ‘Next Generation: 2023’ overview, which chooses the best promising young players at each Premier League club.
The son of former Wales international defender Craig Morgan has advanced through the Everton academy system to join the under-18s team this year, which is coached by the club’s former left-back, Leighton Baines, according to The Guardian.
Morgan, who was raised in Milton Keynes and played for England’s youth teams, has since followed his father into the Welsh national team, where he currently competes at the under-17 level.
Morgan, a strong, quick center-forward with a keen eye for goal, has scored routinely for Everton so far in his career.
The right-footed striker, who bases his style of play on Robert Lewandowski, had a few injury setbacks during the last campaign, but he is now healthy and has made an amazing start to the Under-18 Premier League season.
Fans of Everton will be hoping Morgan can keep impressing as he advances at the team.
After overcoming injury worries, the 17-year-old has made four appearances for Everton’s U-18s so far this season and may have a promising future with the Blues.
The young attacker will undoubtedly benefit from his physical ability and “eye for goal” as he progresses through Everton’s academy and, perhaps, eventually makes it into the senior team.
Only a small number of Everton’s academy graduates have advanced into the senior squad in recent years, therefore it has been a while since one of its alumni had a real, substantial impact on the first team.
Ellis Simms, who once stood out as a bright academy graduate, joined Coventry City this summer after finding it difficult to break into Sean Dyche’s Everton starting lineup.
George Morgan is making improvement at the U-18 level, so perhaps he will continue to have success. It will be interesting to see how he develops over the coming years.
