Now that Neil Harris has been fired by League Two club Gillingham, he has unexpectedly emerged as the front-runner candidate. Leam Richardson, a former manager of Wigan Athletic, and Karl Robinson, a former manager of MK Dons and Oxford United, are currently his rivals for the position, according to the bookies.
The former Albion manager would make a comeback 44 years after starting his playing career at The Gills, where he made 237 appearances over a five-year span.
The rumors surfaced just a few weeks after Bruce was mentioned as a potential manager for the Republic of Ireland team, whose manager Stephen Kenny is under fire after a challenging Euros qualification campaign.
