After a scorching start to the season, bookmakers drastically lowered the odds on Ipswich Town earning a second consecutive promotion.
The Blues are second in the early Championship table, only behind Leicester City, after winning nine of their first eleven games back in the second division.
In addition to being 11 points ahead of seventh-placed Norwich City, they already have an eight-point lead over third-placed Preston North End, who they defeated 4-2 in their most recent game prior to this international break.
Sky Bet has decreased the odds on the Blues securing promotion to the Premier League this season due to their hot start.
Ivor Davies, an EFL trader with Sky Bet, noted that Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich team was undefeated in September, winning four games and drawing the fourth.
“The Tractor Boys are now 8/13 to make it back-to-back promotions and be playing in the top-flight next season. They were 5/1 for promotion before a ball was kicked.
“McKenna is clearly one of the most intelligent young British managers in the game and they deserve to be where they are now, it’s not a fluke at all – we only have Leeds and Leicester rated better,” a source said.
At 3/1, Town is the second-favorite to win the Championship, only behind Leicester (4/6).
