Several Tottenham Hotspur players, including Micky van de Ven, were in awe of Destiny Udogie’s first performance for Italy yesterday.
Despite coming on as a replacement against Malta in the 79th minute, Udogie still managed to contribute an assist.
After his first minutes on the field for his nation, Udogie uploaded a photo to Instagram with the hashtag “Dreamchaser.” Several of van de Ven’s and Royal’s teammates from Tottenham were quick to respond with their support. Young Spurs Dane Scarlett and Brandon Austin also praised the 20-year-old right away.
And after a brilliant start to the season with Tottenham, this should only be the beginning of Udogie’s career in Italy.
The £15 million acquisition has drawn praise from many quarters, and his international debut is richly merited.
Italy will now undoubtedly play England at Wembley on Tuesday. If both players receive playing time, Udogie might then square up against James Maddison of the Spurs. Udogie will have the ideal opportunity to start for Italy at Tottenham. Udogie will have to unseat Federico Dimarco of Inter Milan in order to start for his nation.
The 25-year-old, who is always developing, has made an impression to the point where Real Madrid is now rumored to be interested in signing him. Udogie, 20, is not in a hurry, but he hopes that his success with Tottenham can help him achieve great things with Italy. Of course, Pedro Porro, a colleague from Spain, is still waiting for his subsequent international opportunity. Porro has also been playing well for Ange Postecoglou’s squad, however he was not selected for the most recent Spain squad. Throughout the break, the full-back stayed with Spurs, seemingly indicating his desire to eventually earn a berth for his nation. Udogie, a Tottenham player, will be happy to be in the squad at this point in his career even though he hasn’t started for Italy yet.
