The well-known Hollywood actor found it difficult to contain his jubilation as he spoke lyrical about his brave Wrexham squad as they continued their unbeaten streak by defeating Gary Neville and David Beckham’s Salford.
Ryan Reynolds, a co-owner of Wrexham, could not contain his joy when his team miraculously pulled off a victory over Salford City.
As the game drew closer to the end, it appeared as though the Red Dragons would suffer a crushing 2-1 loss to their Greater Manchester rivals. But Phil Parkinson’s team would prove they haven’t lost any of last season’s tenacity by scoring twice in the closing minutes to secure all three points.
Naturally, the chairman of the North Wales team, who is known for being extremely hands-on, was among those who were left in a joyful mood when they finished a remarkable comeback. The Hollywood celebrity posted on his social media after a busy day at the Racecourse Ground to express his unabashed excitement.
The ‘Deadpool’ actor was evidently feeling the joy that many fans inside the stadium would have had as Wrexham scored a crucial goal. He shared a picture from the match along with the description, “Apparently you can fit two goals, over 180 heartbeats, and a single 200 decibel scream into a single minute.” on his Instagram Stories page.
Of course, the renowned athlete’s words described a contest in which League Two rival Wrexham rallied to defeat them in a thriller worthy of a screenplay. The away team, which is partially owned by former Manchester United greats David Beckham, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, and Ryan Giggs, jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.
Before the half, the Dragons would make a brave comeback and soon respond through Elliot Lee to lessen the score. But after that, it appeared as though Salford would claim the victory before Steven Fletcher, a former Premier League regular, equalized in the 87th minute.
If that wasn’t dramatic enough, Jordan Davies stepped up to win the game for Wrexham with one minute remaining in the game. Manager Parkinson praised his players after their most recent victory as they continue to adjust to life back in the EFL and have gone undefeated in their previous five games.
“We’re so happy with the win,” he remarked. Another excellent illustration of what the club stands for; the members’ strength of character and mental fortitude shone through, and we never give in.
“At halftime, I thought we had a fantastic chance to win the game if we improved the caliber of our play and decision-making. We believed that if we could tie the score at 2-2, the momentum would shift in our favor, and we would go on to win the game.
“I owe a special mention to the substitutes because they truly provided us the tempo, energy, and freshness we needed. In that second period, we placed them under so much pressure that there was a moment when you wondered when the goal would be scored. “We had some unbelievable opportunities, and once it was 2-2, the entire stadium lifted, ” continued Parkinson.
