Richard Williams, a Wrexham FC reporter for the Wrexham Leader newspaper, lauded goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who is owned by Arsenal, for his contribution to Wrexham’s 3-2 comeback victory over Salford City on Saturday night in a League Two game played at the STK Cae Ras. Okonkwo was back in the starting lineup for the Red Dragons’ visit to the Ammies after being rested for Tuesday’s 3-0 victory against Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Trophy. This was his fourth straight start for the Red Dragons in the fourth tier of English football. With two goals from Matt Smith in the first 36 minutes, Salford may have felt they were safe. However, Wrexham rallied to tie the score until Jordan Davies’ goal in the 89th minute.

Okonkwo made a great save in the third minute of stoppage time to prevent Smith from scoring the equalizer by halting his header on the line. In his player ratings for the Leader, Williams gave the English-Nigerian goalkeeper a score of 6 out of 10 and congratulated him for making the save that allowed Wrexham to win all three games.

“Made a brilliant save in stoppage time to ensure Wrexham secured three points,” Williams stated. In five games for Wrexham, Okonkwo has maintained three clean sheets while allowing five goals.
