Gregg Broughton is happy that Rovers has established itself as a destination that Premier League clubs want to send their brightest talents.
This season, James Hill and Andy Moran both moved to Ewood Park from Brighton and Bournemouth, respectively.
The two have already combined for 14 games, with Moran scoring a brace in the 5-2 Carabao Cup victory over Cardiff. According to Broughton, both players were attracted to Jon Dahl Tomasson’s appealing brand of football.
The director of football thinks premier league clubs are aware of Rovers’ history of nurturing young players.
He told The Lancashire Telegraph, “We went to the loan list and James was always our number one choice. “We knew none of the loan central defenders would be available until the penultimate week of the market, so we had to act swiftly. “James had played in the Premier League for Bournemouth, and they weren’t willing to let him go. At Brighton, we stayed in touch with them, him, and Andy.
They praised our playing style, Jon’s playing style, the player development we perform as a football club, as well as our legacy and history. “We were always the first choice for both the players and the club to get them over the line.” Hill, 21, has already demonstrated his leadership abilities since moving to East Lancashire, despite his youth.
James is a player with 70 senior games under his belt, has already played in the Premier League, and has represented England’s Under-21 team, according to Broughton. “With all that out of the way, that’s his voice you hear; we played a game versus Rochdale behind closed doors. “His leadership is evident in the way he barks directions to the defense and midfield. He is displaying excellent leadership qualities. For their forthcoming home matches against Cardiff and Swansea, Rovers has unveiled a special ticker offer.
This weekend, Cardiff will be in town as Tomasson’s team looks to build on their convincing victory against Queens Park Rangers just before the break. The following week, Swansea go to Ewood Park, thus Rovers are eager to have as many fans present for both games. A double ticket costs £40 for adults, £32 for those over 65, £24 for those under 23, £16 for those under 17, and £10 for those under 12 years old. Fans have three options for purchasing tickets: online at the club’s official website, in person at the Roverstore, or by calling the ticket office at 01254 72000. Notably, tickets for children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tomasson’s team has 13 points from its first 11 league games and is now ranked 17th in the Championship. They are now only three points below West Brom in 11th place.
