Real Madrid is reportedly keeping a close eye on one player that West Ham United is trying to sign, and they may even be willing to make a bid.
In January, who might West Ham sign?
The east London team spent £134 million to acquire Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos, and Mohammed Kudus after a highly successful summer transfer window. In particular, Ward-Prowse has emerged as a revelation, netting two goals and providing three assists thus far, garnering significant recognition for select games.
With four victories in their first eight league games, West Ham has won four of their games and is currently ranked seventh in the Premier League standings thanks to the aforementioned quartet. They have only been defeated thus far by Man City and Liverpool, and David Moyes’ team has also gone 17 games without a loss in Europe.
Unfortunately, it’s been said that West Ham might yet get stronger in January. As concerns about Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd’s futures increase, Moyes is reportedly eager to get a new center back. The most recent links are to AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba. To increase Moyes’ attacking options, Serhou Guirassy, a striker for Stuttgart in good form, is also a potential addition.
Under Moyes, Danny Ings has only played 33 minutes so far this season; Michail Antonio, the striker, has started all eight of West Ham’s Premier League games. But only Ings would be a suitable backup if the Jamaican international were to suffer an injury, which may explain their alleged interest in acquiring a new forward.
Update on Malick Thiaw’s transfer from West Ham
Returning to the defensive domain, West Ham is reportedly considering Thiaw. The Milan center back is reportedly the target of the Irons’ transfer plans, according to reports from last week. Journalist Daniele Longo provided Calciomercato with his own Thiaw trade update.
According to the reporter, West Ham has already spoken with Thiaw’s representatives about a possible trade and is willing to provide about £17 million to get him to leave Italy. Given his potential, it’s even said that Real Madrid is “closely” following the Germany international. At a massive six feet four, the 22-year-old has started seven Serie A games for the Rossoneri so far and has established himself as one of Stefano Pioli’s important players.
Pioli praised the defender as one of his “leaders” and claimed he possessed all the qualities needed to develop into a “modern defender” in an earlier statement to the media (via sempremilan).
“Malick has always performed well, and I’ve always seen that he had the necessary traits to be a successful modern defender. I’ve always believed that he will start for Milan. I didn’t think I needed to start Torino because he was in good shape and had the appropriate attributes.
Even though he is still very young, he must keep going in this direction. When there are two things present, it’s simple to keep everything in check and remain calm: group cohesion and the backing of the club and my leaders. These items have never been insufficient.
