A significant “special shout-out” is given to a Celtic player during a pivotal moment in their away victory over Hearts.

As he celebrated Celtic’s decisive victory over Hearts at Tynecastle, Joe Hart gave a particular shout-out to one of his teammates.

Following Philippe Clement’s decisive victory over Hibs on his Ibrox debut, Brendan Rodgers’ team defeated Steven Naismith’s team 4-1 in the capital to extend their seven-point lead over Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership. This makes it eight wins and one draw from Rodgers’ team’s nine games this season.

With just four minutes remaining, the highly effective Matt O’Riley opened the scoring in Gorgie, scoring his sixth league goal of the season. The visitors took the lead after goals from Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi, but the home team had a chance when Lawrence Shankland, the captain of the Jambos, beat Hart with a superb move. Nevertheless, Tomoki Iwata scored his first goal for the Hoops after joining the team under former manager Ange Postecoglou, and former England star Hart gave his teammate extra credit following this significant milestone.

He praised the most recent victory for Rodgers’ table toppers on social media, writing: “Good in on the road, some great goals.” A special thanks to @iwata.tomoki29, who is well-deserved.”

The Scottish champions will next host La Liga powerhouse Atletico Madrid in Glasgow before returning to Champions League action under the lights. After two losses in the division thus far against Feyenoord and Lazio in a devastating last-gasp loss, the Hoops need a historic night under the lights to get their European campaign underway.

Diego Simeone’s team has only lost once in their previous nine league games in Spain’s top division, with Antoine Griezmann scoring a hat-trick in a victory over Celta Vigo, the team of former Celtic defender Carl Starfelt, over the weekend.
