James Maddison can’t stop laughing as Jamie Carragher asks about Liverpool replay
Tottenham and Liverpool’s September fixture was marred by VAR controversy while many fans called for a replay – and pundit Jamie Carragher doesn’t appear to have let it go just yet.

James Maddison walked into Jamie Carragher’s trap regarding Liverpool’s defeat to Spurs.

James Maddison was left in heaps of laughter after being hit with Jamie Carragher’s cheeky question about a replay.

Tottenham faced Liverpool, Carragher’s former side, back in September in a nail-biting affair. Spurs were able to beat a nine-man Liverpool 2-1, but the match was engulfed in controversy due to Luis Diaz’s opening goal for the Reds being wrongly ruled out following a miscommunication between VAR officials and the referee.

Refereeing body PGMOL issued a statement admitting to a “significant human error.” It added that VAR should have intervened and failed to do so before undergoing a “full review” of the situation.

Both Liverpool fans and manager Jurgen Klopp were understandably left furious at the injustice, with talks of a potential replay dominating the following week. While that appears to have fallen on deaf ears, it didn’t stop Sky Sports pundit Carragher from catching Maddison off-guard with a light-hearted jibe.

Speaking after Spurs’ 2-0 win over Fulham, Carragher said: “You’ve got a big game Friday, obviously a long way to go. You’ve done really well. How do you think you’ll get on in that replay against Liverpool?”

Jamie Carragher couldn’t resist making the cheeky dig.

The Spurs playmaker then let out a laugh, before saying: “I just knew from the tone of Carra’s voice that was coming.”

Tottenham rose to top of the Premier League table thanks to Monday night’s home victory. Ange Postecoglou’s revolution showed no signs of slowing down, with the north Londoners leapfrogging rivals Arsenal and title-holders Manchester City.

That was thanks to Son Heung-min and Maddison’s strikes either side of half-time. They next make the trip to south London to play Crystal Palace in the league on Friday.
