The Hoops have yet to win any of their two UCL games this season against their group.
Against Atletico Madrid this evening, Brendan Rodgers is still seeking his first Champions League victory of the year.
The Hoops’ poor start to the group stage was exacerbated by a stunning collapse against Lazio on matchday two, following a depressing loss to Feyenoord in the Netherlands on the first day of play. Despite dealing with injuries and bans, they still don’t have a strong chance if they only get one point from their first two games.
Diego Simeone’s outstanding Spanish giants are coming to town tonight, so things won’t get any easier. However, Rodgers has a stronger roster to select from because his players seem to be starting to click.
They defeated Hearts at Tynecastle last weekend in a convincing fashion, and players like Matt O’Riley, Luis Palma, and Liam Scales have improved significantly this season.
With some of the team’s more well-known players returning, Rodgers has some important selections to make. The Northern Irishman made those judgments in advance of tonight’s match at Parkhead.
Johnston, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, Hatate, O’Riley, Palma, Maeda, Kyogo, and Hart make up the Celtic XI.
Subs: Bain, Morrison, Lagerbielke, Phillips, Yang, Turnbull, Oh, Tomoki, Bernardo, Forrest, Ralston, Johnston
