Reo Hatate in Celtic injury scare as midfield star leaves pitch in tears vs Atletico Madrid inside 5 minutes
Reo Hatate barely had time to get going before he was hauled off with injury against Atletico Madrid.
Reo Hatate’s night at Celtic Park vs Atletico Madrid was extremely short lived after he went off the pitch in tears.
It was a superb start for the Hoops against Diego Simeone’s men; Matt O’Riley superbly fed Kyogo in through the Atletico defence, and the talisman didn’t disappoint as he coolly finished with aplomb to send Parkhead wild. But just moments after the restart, there was somewhat of a mood change in the east end when Reo Hatate went down under what seemed to be an innocuous challenge from a visiting player – clutching his lower leg and instantly being swarmed by physios.
A moment of deliberation between the midfield star and the response team ensued before the decision was made to haul him off the field with little under five minutes on the clock. And he was snapped crying on the field of play as he made his way off before being replaced by Paulo Bernardo.
The midfielder has suffered somewhat with injuries in his time at Celtic Park. He’s made a name of being slightly injury prone in his time at Parkhead.
The 25-year-old missed a couple of weeks earlier in the season with a muscle injury, whilst last season saw a hamstring injury and a muscle strain at the start and end of the campaigns.
