The West Midlands’ Conservative mayor, Andy Street, has stated he is in communication with both Action For Albion and West Brom concerning the ownership concerns of the team.
In addition, Street stated that discussions have taken place with West Bromwich East Conservative MP Nicola Richards in an effort to resolve the ownership issues. This follows news that the club is confident, as reported by Express & Star columnist Lewis Cox on October 15. The club’s managing director, Mark Miles, stated that talks are ongoing over a possible takeover.
After West Brom defeated QPR 2-0 on October 25, Street posted on Twitter, saying, “It’s great to be at The Hawthorns for a great result for the Baggies as they continue to perform on the pitch.”
“Away from the field, I am aware of the ownership concerns, and I have been in communication with Action For Albion, Nicola Richards, and the team in order to find a resolution.” Possible involvement of the government
It is encouraging that the club and protest group are participating in the Mayor and local MP’s discussions about West Brom and the current situation there, indicating that there may be some relief from the ownership nightmare.
This is the most recent positive development to surface in recent weeks, as negotiations to locate a new owner and ultimately remove the existing chaos at the top of the team start to move more quickly.
The official recognition of Action For Albion, their activities, and their protests by a few truly influential people is also a significant step towards their goal of bringing about a change at the highest level of West Brom.
There is rising optimism within the club that a solution may be achieved soon, but the next few months will still be filled with exciting turns and turns.
