AHEAD OF TIME? The commercial, which is set in a high-rise office building overlooking Philadelphia, features McElhenney introducing his new sponsor, Four Walls’ The Better Brown, an Irish American Whiskey brand that he and his co-stars Howerton and Day founded as an homage to the Irish bar that served as the basis for their success on television with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Since Reynolds and McElhenney acquired the team, a number of commercially successful alliances have been formed, and this one is the most recent. This season, United Airlines is their primary shirt sponsor; in its place, The Better Brown is promoted on the sleeves of the Wrexham training kit (a joke that Day & Howerton make in the video).
FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM? The team’s devotion to McElhenney and Reynolds is growing, and they need all the help they can get as they get ready for a crucial matchup against Notts County, where manager Parkinson hopes to reignite their intense rivalry from the previous season. League Two’s other newly promoted team is currently one spot ahead of Wrexham in second place.
