Paul Mullin acknowledges that he does not “expect” to receive a call-up from Wales, but he will make every effort to fulfill his dream of playing for his country.
AHEAD OF TIME?
The prolific striker for Wrexham was put on standby when Wales manager Rob Page announced his final team. Despite not being drafted into the fold, he keeps making waves at the club level. Mullin scored 47 goals the previous season, which helped him get promoted back into the Football League. This season, he has already scored four goals.

When asked if he planned to receive a cap at some point, Mullin responded, “My dad’s mum was Welsh; she was born in Newport and grew up there,” on Kammy & Ben’s Proper Football Podcast. I would really like to do that. That would fulfill a dream. I believe I’ve previously stated that, even in my younger years, I wasn’t a big fan of the England national team. To represent Wales would be an honor. It’s been mentioned quite a bit, and surprisingly, the Wales manager received it quite a bit last year. I don’t anticipate getting called up. Mullin responded, “Hopefully that’s the case, but I understand as an international manager you have players that are registered for the country and play at higher levels,” after it was pointed out to him that all he could do was keep scoring goals and hope that the call would eventually come. People view it in that manner. I could have performed better, but I made the decision not to, so I can’t really be upset that I wasn’t chosen for the level I play at because I made the decision to come play here. It shouldn’t be an issue, in my opinion. “If he scores goals in League Two then the call will come” was said during one of the interviews. I already hold the record for most goals scored in a League Two season [during my time at Cambridge]. I’ll give it my all to score as many goals as I can for Wrexham, the football team I play for. It goes without saying that I would jump at the chance to play for the national team; for a player of this caliber, being called up would be an incredible experience. I would feel very at ease going to represent Wales.
