After recovering from a serious injury, Rodrigo Bentancur is prepared to help Tottenham contend for the Premier League title this year.
In Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, Rodrigo Bentancur made his comeback to the field for the first time since he sustained a cruciate ligament injury in February of this year. The Uruguayan international, who came to Spurs from Juventus, has been an important member of the team.
After suffering a knee injury earlier in the season, Bentancur missed a total of 28 games; however, he is now fully recovered and prepared to take his place in the starting lineup. The post-match scenes, in which Yves Bissouma urged Bentancur to receive plenty of praise and support from the traveling Spurs fans at Selhurst Park, demonstrate just how highly regarded he is in the squad.
Ange Postecoglou might be the most relieved to see Bentancur return from injury, but the 26-year-old bowed to the fans before getting surrounded by his teammates once more. Following the match, the Tottenham manager stated: “Players such as Rodrigo are felt for by all footballers.”
“His Tottenham career got off to such a great start, but when you’re in rehab on your own and all you want is to be with the group, it can be difficult. For weeks, he has been hammering down my door to train with the group, and the medical staff has been right behind him, telling him that’s not going to happen.
“I am so happy that he is now public. I haven’t had to use him yet, so it’s a bonus for me that he has looked good in training. It simply deepens our relationship, and the guys and I are both very happy for him.”
Bentancur is now looking forward to competing for a spot in Postecoglou’s squad and has thanked his partner, Melany La Blanca, and the Tottenham supporters for their support during his recuperation and rehabilitation. The Uruguay international wrote on Instagram following the victory over Crystal Palace, saying, “Not crazy, they are my engine and without you I wouldn’t be here today!
“They are the loves of my life, and I am so grateful that you have supported me through every moment, both good and bad! We’re back and more powerful than before.”
