After Wrexham defeated League Two rivals Notts County 2-0 on the road, Phil Parkinson gave his team’s performance some thought.
Parkinson is pleased with his performance versus Notts County.
Despite missing a few important players, they were still successful.
The outcome maintained Wrexham’s place among the top three.
AHEAD OF TIME? Elliot Lee and Ollie Palmer scored goals in quick succession to give Wrexham the win and all three points in the last quarter of the Notts County match.
WHAT THEY SAID: Parkinson told Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, “It’s right up there in terms of performances in my time as a manager because we’ve come here with a lot of disruption.” “On Tuesday, we lost Ryan Barnett and Eoghan O’Connell, two important players. Jordan Tunnicliffe, who has been playing incredibly well, was also lost in the warm-up, and Aaron Hayden is still not fully recovered.
“However, the guys have executed the game plan exceptionally well, so there are no justifications. Having played many excellent games against them, we are aware that [Notts County] is a strong team. However, we conducted ourselves [in this game] in a first-rate manner.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE: The outcome kept third-place Wrexham and second-place Notts County tied for points in the League Two standings; the latter was only ahead because they had scored one more goal in 16 games. In a thrilling race for the championship, Wrexham defeated Notts County to advance automatically from the National League; the latter team advanced through the playoffs. A third of the way into the season, all three clubs are automatically promoted into League One, with Stockport County leading the division standings by five points following their 10th consecutive league victory on Saturday.
FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM? Next weekend, the first round of the FA Cup will take place, briefly stopping the League Two season. Wrexham will face a challenging away match against Mansfield Town, who are just one point and place behind them in the league. Next up for the Dragons is an EFL Trophy match against Port Vale on November 7, followed by a League Two match against Gillingham on November 8.
