With Wrexham’s most recent triumph, James McClean has been ecstatic, sending rival Notts County a message along the lines of “he who laughs last, laughs best.

The Dragons and Magpies fought it out for automatic promotion from the National League the previous season, with the Welsh team emerging victorious in a titanic match that set numerous records. County secured return tickets to the Football League by virtue of a thrilling victory in the play-offs at Wembley.
