Possibly the most significant clean sheet of his loan thus far was kept by Arthur Okonkwo for Wrexham against Notts County over the weekend.

This season, Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are the owners of Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who is on loan at League Two’s Wrexham. At the weekend, Okonkwo recorded his fourth clean sheet in eight games.

Wrexham had gone a few games without a clean sheet prior to the weekend, despite the fact that they had been unbeaten since Okonkwo’s debut, going five wins and three draws in his eight appearances.

If there was ever a chance to score, it was against Notts County, the team they play against on Saturday.

Notts County and Wrexham were both promoted to League Two the previous season, but both teams have already shown early signs of being strong candidates for promotion this year.

The hosts on Saturday entered the game in second place, three points ahead of Wrexham. A win would have been necessary to tie the score, and the opposition would have needed their goalkeeper to do so. Notts County had 16 shots and six on target compared to Wrexham’s 15 and eight on target in a game of abundant opportunities. But Notts County drew blanks and Wrexham scored twice. Although Okonkwo had to make one diving save against former Premier League striker David McGoldrick, most of his saves were rather easy.

The keeper then contributed to Wrexham’s second goal when he found Paul Mullin with a long pass, and Mullin crossed the ball to Ollie Palmer for the finish.

After joining Wrexham, who were in 13th place in League Two, Okonkwo’s team is now in the promotion spots.

Wrexham, who are currently in third place, are only missing out on the top two spots due to goals scored, even though two of the teams chasing them still have games left to play.

Wrexham may move up a division again come summer if Okonkwo maintains the stellar clean sheet record he has built up over the last 15 games.
