Neil Critchley states Blackpool will need both intensity and discipline against Fleetwood Town on Wednesday night.
The Seasiders enter the game at Highbury against their neighbourhood rivals fresh off a 4-2 loss to Peterborough United, in which Olly Casey received a red card.
Blackpool’s midweek opponents are “irrelevant,” according to Critchley, because the team is solely focused on improving after the defeat at Bloomfield Road.
“Fleetwood had a good victory during the week and got a great point at Barnsley (on Saturday),” he stated.
“We are aware that playing away from home will be challenging, but we must go again. This league never gives up. You need to get back up and concentrate quickly on the upcoming game. The next game is on Wednesday night, and that gives us an opportunity to react.
It really doesn’t matter who we are playing against; it’s just the next match on our schedule. We need to rest and get ready to play a team that has recently improved. It will be a difficult game because of their level of confidence, but if we play like we did against Peterborough, we know we can win anywhere. In games like this, it’s important to strike a balance between discipline and commitment and intensity. We need to make sure we show up at Fleetwood, but we also need to have a plan of action. After playing at Highbury on Wednesday, Blackpool will play in the FA Cup on Saturday night, taking a break from League One action. They will be visiting Bromley
